Woman missing since Monday found safe in Franklin County

Updated: Nov 9, 2019

Ms. Majerus had been missing since the previous Monday when family members reported her missing. The night before, she was taken home by one of our deputies as she was found sitting in in the street in Lanark. She was disoriented and the duputy was able to get her home and see that she got in safely.

“We mustered a tremendous response including dogs, FSU Disaster Response with their Infrared camera equipped drones, as well as a number of family members, friends and concerned citizens of the community.”

On Halloween night, she emerged from the woods about 2 miles from her home and was picked up by a passing motorist. "To me it was a miracle. She was sleeping in the woods with nothing to eat or drink and I am just so happy that it all worked out".

Learning From The Experience

Now that the search and rescue operation has concluded, I asked Sheriff A.J. what he has taken away from the experience. See his complater interview here.
